Would a modern laptop be only stuck within a wall socket? What would be the point if that was the case!

The PPC640 can run from batteries. 10, non-rechargeable, C-cells that fit into two tubes at the back of the unit

The plan is to do something like the below but actually using the tubes that came with the machine as that's what the manual tells us to do!

For this one the batteries are going to be rechargeable even if the manual says NO, then again there won't be much left of the original when the project is completed!

So how do you get 12ish volts of rechargeable power (I'm not going to be paying £20 for batteries so I can use the thing for a hour!) down to the 5 volts needed to run the internals?

The answer is simple. A cheap buck convertor, or a DC to DC convertor to step down the 12 volts to 5
